Selecting a Type
There are three sign types to choose from when designing
your sign:
OSHA,
ANSI
Z535, and
CUSTOM
signs. Use the guide below to help choose which style best fits your workplace.
Also, see Selecting a Header for more
information on which header to use for your sign application.
OSHA
The Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA 1910.145) requires the use of safety signs
to indicate and define specific hazards that, without identification,
may lead to accidental injury to workers and/or to the public or
property damage.
ANSI
The ANSI Committee on Safety Signs
developed a set of standards for the design, application and use
of signs, colors, and symbols intended to identify and warn against
specific hazards and to prevent accidents. The recommended format
is intended to provide a safety alert message that is clearly and
rapidly understood.
CUSTOM
Custom signs allow you to create your message without a
header. Pictograms may be added to the right side of the sign to help
communicate your message.
